Pyrography, or woodburning, is the art of using
a woodburning tool to literally burn into the
wood to make an image. It uses the beautiful
wood grain and color to offset the bold dark
lines & shading. This artform has been
around for thousands of years and is in
many respects a type of engraving. It can
be used both in rustic settings and in
those where a more natural element of
design is desired. This artform is typically
more labor intensive than drawing and
requires excellent control of the
woodburning tool.
